Delighting in its harmonious, adoration-filled pop sound, “I Gotta Know” is another resonating track from fina, who also caught our ears with “Daydreaming” last month. Both tracks come via a 6-song EP, releasing in December, from the project of Jack Jobst, a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer based in Brooklyn by way of Maryland.
The track is an especially important and personal one for Jobst. “This track is my take on a love song from my real experience. It is my gift to my soon to be wife that will be releasing on the eve of our wedding day,” he says. “In it is the simple message of committing to someone forever after life dropping the two of you off next to each other to make sense of each other, our feelings for one another, how we fit in the world together and the one thing we want, to be together forever.”
Warming keys and mellow vocal introspection opens, escalating into a soaring “is it you?” and ensuing blissfulness in the chorus, which plays with a bit of Rundgren-esque nostalgia in eventually asking “I gotta know, can it be with you?” “I Gotta Know” is another fantastic output from fina, whose upcoming EP we’re firmly anticipating.
