The third release from SPORTMODE, “17” evolves from acoustic-touched contemplations into a more ardently compelling composure. “Take me, to where I belong,” the opening line beckons, as illuminated synths and brass-like soaring add to the resonant guitar work. A cathartic drive to “always find my way home” continues the momentum, building into whirring electric guitars and clap-friendly rhythms as the production swells with glistening synth-adorned power. “17” is a moving alt-pop success, capturing the clarity and self-discovery that come with growing older.
The artist elaborates on the track: “In 17, I tried to dissect my feelings of my teenage years as an adult looking back. I think this song can resonate with many about the anxieties and stress of your teenage years, and not fitting in. As you grow up you start to see that sometimes people you thought were your friends weren’t really there for you.”
