dodie has announced a deluxe edition of her sophomore album, Not For Lack Of Trying, arriving October 23 via Fontana Records.

The expanded release features two new songs alongside reworked versions of favorites from the original album, recorded live with some of dodie’s closest friends. The sessions took place at a countryside studio on the singer-songwriter’s 31st birthday, where the group relearned songs, worked through new material, and jammed together late into the night. “We all dressed up like we were in the 1800s and played a murder mystery game set at my pretend twin’s funeral,” dodie shared of the playful recording sessions.

The first taste of the deluxe edition dropped today with the double A-side “Fruit in the Sun” and a new version of “HE CAN DO A PUSH-UP.” On “Fruit in the Sun,” dodie explores a relationship that has become almost too comfortable, returning to the themes of stagnancy and uncertainty that run throughout Not For Lack Of Trying.

“A similar unsettling lives in this song as is in the rest of the album and the artwork – stagnancy, and what ugly/beautiful things overgrow in that stagnancy,” dodie said of the track. “Clearly I had a fear of comfort? A distrust in any peace? I am glad this song lives to explore a feeling, but of course sad it had to exist.”

Released in 2025, Not For Lack Of Trying was largely written between London and Los Angeles and produced alongside Grammy-nominated producer Joe Rubel, whose credits include Maisie Peters, Griff, and Sigrid. The album finds dodie reflecting on falling in love, breakups, comparison culture, and depression, while pushing her signature rubber bridge guitar, strings, and layered harmonies into new territory.

Alongside the deluxe edition, dodie has announced the Not For Lack of Clarinets tour, an intimate run of U.K. and North American shows in October and November. The concerts will feature Not For Lack Of Trying performed in full, with every song newly rescored for two clarinets. Stops include Manchester, Glasgow, London, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, and New York.

Earlier this month, dodie joined singer-songwriter aron! on his new single “Call When You Can.” The duet, which explores the challenges of maintaining a relationship across distance and busy schedules, will appear on aron!’s debut album, Too Close For Running, out September 18.
