Regen Ryan’s new album Inner Marriage explores spirituality and healing through a 13-track conscious hip-hop journey centered on the union of masculine and feminine within, from artist Regen Ryan. Across the album, reflections on “peace and harmony,” self-love, and “the Source” take shape through a fluid blend of hip-hop and melodic production, with the album arriving October 14.
Album opener “AscenDance” is exemplary of the artist’s knack for dynamic productions, in this case straddling alt-pop dreaminess and riveting hip-hop prowess. “Let’s break these chains, and feel free for just one day,” a female lead entrancement opens, quickly followed by Regen Ryan’s fervent hip-hop introspection. “We are vibrating higher, the fifth dimension is clear,” he lets out, contemplating conscience and inner-healing in between the “let’s dance in the rain, while the world is going insane” dreamy melodic hook. The ensuing “Let Go & Let Goddess” revels in similar themes of prevailing over tumult and being grateful, weighing both the subconscious and body in examining self-betterment and the ability to let go of one’s troubles. A soulful, wordless harmonic hook lingers wonderfully in the background.
Another standout track, “Oversoul Embodied” delights in its initially hazy demeanor, smitten in its declarative “I’d rather share my love with you, than run and hide with someone new.” Propulsive, bass-y rhythms compel in the “flowing in and out of consciousness” perspectives, switching seamlessly between brisker references to “the Source” and the drive for “peace and harmony” and the central “share my love with you” hook, making for a resonant reflection on finding love and fully committing to it. The ensuing “I AM AKH” invigorates with climactic allure, emitting a lyrical embrace of activating one’s Ka and inviting God. The reference to the ancient Egyptian perspective of one’s life force melds with modern insights of empowerment, for another stirring piece of songwriting.
Elsewhere, “Yeshua (444Hz)” shifts back into a calming pop infusion, embracing the frequency fit for meditation, relaxation, and healing. Adoring “I love you” sentiments move with lush appeal, while the hip-hop sections celebrate the ability to balance self-love with love for others. Piano and twangy guitars shine throughout the beat, as does the serene effect of the backing, hook-minded phrasing. A similar piano-driven vibrancy and backing tone shows on “I love you,” while “I Attract Money” traverses an enjoyable bravado, reveling in creativity and the act of personal cleansing: “Here to cleanse the holy water / Soul so pure, redefine the divine / And digress from the dogma.” Album finale “Organic Ascension” caps it all off in quality form, again referencing the simultaneous power of self-love, love for others, and embrace of the sacred union of masculine and feminine within. Inner Marriage is an insightful, heady hip-hop success from Regen Ryan.
