“Stay” marks a darker new chapter for Omaha-based rock project EverWill, led by Nebraska-born multi-instrumentalist Will Griffey. The single offers a first glimpse of the six-track debut EP arriving in spring 2027, pairing heavy guitars and synths with Griffey’s emotionally direct songwriting.

A resonant, heart-on-sleeve lead presence is delivered immediately. “I’m standing on the edge again tonight, wondering if the way I feel is right,” the phrasing resonates, forlorn in the “poison in my veins, my heart has been betrayed” admission that then develops into dreamy harmonic backings. A harder-rocking guitar presence ensues, while the more intense delivery here conveys everything feeling like a blur. A convergence of heavy alternative, emo, and punk dazzles in the subsequent rise, with raucously melodic lines and sturdy guitar distortion combining for an anthemic, replay-inducing vigor.

“I’m lying awake, I don’t wanna sleep, I’m scared of my dreams,” the confessional chorus rouses during this central hook, before shifting seamlessly back into introspective allure. “I am the wound, begging to be closed,” a poetic disposition emerges as jangly guitars lead the way, with those depictions of personal wreckage and a yearning to “don’t let me fade” building into another tour-de-force, fervent hook. Obsession-induced insomnia and heartfelt yearning combine with a feverish rock quality throughout “Stay,” another success from EverWill, who previously caught our ears with the track “Sure Thing.”
