JBNG – “Many Moons”

A standout, rousing rock single, “Many Moons” sees JBNG, the musical alias of Surrey, Canada-born artist Jaben John Groome, pairing grunge-rooted guitar intensity with deeply personal songwriting. Inspired by enduring love, loss, and the passage of time, the track reflects Groome’s longstanding connection to rock music and his intimate approach to storytelling.

“Many Moons was written about an undying love that survives all of the ups and downs of life parallel along with the earths astronomical cycles,” Groome says. “Including the history behind the origin of the saying that was common in the 50s as my dad would sing it which was reflected in the video. We grow with each astronomical cycle and we learn with every loss. Radical acceptance when things end as nothing ever really dies it just becomes its true cell form again and evolves into whatever it needs to be each time.”

A blaring array of guitars establishes a riveting sense of immediacy, wasting no time with thumping rhythms and ascending energy. A playful guitar-laden rollicking unveils as the lead presence does, pairing with a doo-woppy backing harmonic responsiveness as fuzzed-out guitars escalate into the “many moons” title reference. A striking shift shows in the “I don’t believe in a world…” insight, where jangly guitars then launch into a feverish dose of heavy distortion. The overlapping delivery layers appear there with sweltering quality, its smitten “not alone” declaration resonating into further heavy rock guitar-driven splendor.

A bass-heavy verse charms in the ensuing section, with the magnetic backing flourishes continuing to shine alongside. “If you’re leaving, I’ll be going off the deep end,” the sense of lyrical adoration continues as well, with a grungy “crawl away” bridge appearing subsequently as the track’s final stretch begins. The amped-up, charismatic grunge guitar riffs are enveloping throughout, as are the dynamic lead performances — spanning from the raspy initial introspection to replay-inducing ardor, punctuated by fantastic backing presences. “Many Moons” is a surefire rock success from JBNG.
