Waves Crashing – “Stars”

Pacific Northwest-based act Waves Crashing unveil another stellar new single in “Stars,” out October 16th. Ahead of the release, we are thrilled to premiere the track right here, which follows up the band’s full-length earlier this year, the fantastic In The Blur.

Sonically, “Stars” finds the band exploring a slightly different landscape, melding their signature shoegaze influences — especially evident throughout In The Blur — with the textures of late ’90s and early 2000s modern rock. Fans of Hum, Smashing Pumpkins, DIIV, and Nothing will find plenty to latch onto here, as the band continues to refine their guitar-driven sound, balancing both melodic immediacy and atmospheric gauziness.

The track carries significant personal weight for the band’s songwriter, Josh, written as an ode to his late 16-year-old dog, Flux. It captures the complex, universal experience of letting go and losing someone close to you. The cover art, which perfectly mirrors the song’s tone, features a striking photograph taken by Ilya Krisa at Arboretum Park in Seattle.

In addition to the new single, Waves Crashing have announced their first-ever UK tour, set to take place this November. You can find more information about their upcoming trek and support efforts via their GoFundMe page.

“Stars” will be available as a two-track single, featuring a new remix, on Bandcamp starting October 16th. Check out the band’s tour dates below:
