The Elusives – “Run Away Into The Night”

Irish trio The Elusives introduce their debut single, “Run Away Into The Night,” with a glistening blend of synth-pop and jangly indie rock. Lifelong collaborators Paul Gilligan and Joe Brady, joined by vocalist Laura Hand, pair atmospheric textures and layered vocals with an anthemic melodic pull, capturing the exhilaration of nocturnal escape. The single offers a first glimpse of the band’s forthcoming debut album.

A twinkling effervescence shines right away, as airy synth pads and a glistening lead meld seamlessly. “Daybreak comes around soon, gets you thinking,” the vocals let out, following warming depictions of nocturnal drives. Jangly guitars add beautifully alongside, while the vocals dreamily progress into the hooky “we run away” repetition, enticing replays with its mixture of synth-laden vibrancy, head-nodding rhythms, and radiantly melodic vocals. “Run away into the night,” they beckon into the two-minute mark, reminding of a sleeker Cut Copy in its anthemic push to the “they will try to find us!” exultation.

A heady mixture of jangly guitars and harmonious vocals ensues, with the final couple minutes being jumpstarted by this pairing. Trickling guitars approach the three-minute turn with atmospheric stylishness, reminding of the late-night rock haunts of Wild Nothing. The sporadic escalations of vocals — “… try to find us” — stirs in between the meditative, calming vocal elements. “Run Away Into The Night” is a sleekly produced, excellently melodic showcase of synth, guitar, and vocal interplay from The Elusives.
