Hurb Jephasun – ‘In The End’ EP

In The End is an emotionally raw EP from Australian outsider artist Hurb Jephasun, drawing on decades spent in Sydney’s underground music scene and a longstanding affinity for unpolished, deeply personal expression. Meditative piano, luminous synths, and heartrending strings frame songs of healing, longing, and perseverance, balancing atmospheric richness with an unfiltered emotional core.

Vibrantly melodic piano and illuminated synths open the album with alluring atmospheric qualities, as “Lost” gets underway. “Can you feel change that is coming?” his delivery asks with hopeful immersion, striving to “fix what is broken” and embrace the process of healing. The meditative quality of the instrumentation melds aptly with comforting lyrical qualities of clinging to light in the wake of tumult. This tonally consistent opener then moves into “In The End,” a powerful track whose “I forgot where I belong” lyrical admissions pair with a lovely interplay of effervescent piano and brassy touches.

“Pray” is another standout, reminding a bit of Nick Cave in its forlorn instrumentation and perseverant “love will never fade away from you” ardor, while EP finale “The First Time” concludes with heartrending strings and elegant piano. The performance is stirringly dynamic, from the initially introspective beckoning to remember to the pleading to “want me, like I want you.” Full of heart-on-sleeve songwriting and authentic emotion, In The End is an excellent EP from Hurb Jephasun.
