Another living example of the modern DIY ethos, Cliffhanger are a Chicago-based band comprised of Mike Centracco (guitar/vocals), Kevin De Leon (drums), Matt Meindl (vocals), Lou Pontillo (bass), and Dan Rickert (guitar/vocals). Together, they combine driving guitars with emotionally charged songwriting, all wrapped in an energetic and highly enjoyable pop-punk package.
With a good chunk of experience under their belts, Cliffhanger have already released five EPs and performed throughout the Midwest over the years. They have also played renowned venues and festivals, including Warped Tour, Riot Fest Presents, Subterranean, Beat Kitchen, and Cobra Lounge.
Ready to continue solidifying their presence, Cliffhanger still have plenty to offer in 2026, starting with their newest track, Brain Bleed. The song deals with emotions that many people have experienced at some point in their lives: the frustration and negativity of someone remaining in your mind despite no longer being present. Overall, Brain Bleed turns intrusive thoughts, gaslighting, and manipulation into a solid pop-punk banger.
In the spirit of Goldfinger, Hot Water Music, and other iconic bands of the genre, Brain Bleed will bring a smile to more than a few faces thanks to its emotionally driven sound, backed by frantic strumming, fast-paced drums, and melodic vocals. It’s a track with plenty to offer both longtime fans of the genre and those discovering this euphoric style of music for the first time.
Aside from the release of Brain Bleed, Cliffhanger are also preparing to release a new EP alongside an accompanying music video. To celebrate, the band will be playing a release show, so check out the details below and don’t miss the chance to see Cliffhanger live!
