CMON CMON – “New England In Fall”

Belgian power-pop act CMON CMON pair bright melodic hooks with crisp guitar work on “New England In Fall,” their first new single in a planned run of four tracks arriving between 2026 and 2028. Produced by UK producer James Brown, the release follows the band’s Headwind EP. Here, the group continues its focus on tightly crafted pop songwriting, balancing ringing instrumentation with an introspective lyrical perspective.

Pulses of jangling guitars and resonant organs build into an additional layering of twangy warmth, followed by a serenely melodic lead emergence. “I’ll shut my mouth, listen to you, at least I’m trying,” Jorrit Hermans lets out, delighting in its introspective narration as the harmonious guitars persist. The one-minute turn is particularly striking in its glimpse of spaciousness and crisp guitar jangles, culminating in a title-touting harmonic entrancement and ensuing return to the introduction’s blissful guitar-forward array.

A riveting expanse shows in the “I try” refrain, where overlapping harmonic layers and momentum-filled guitar lines meet. “I tell you every time,” an enthused lead crosses the “I try” with harmonious allure, then venturing into a satiating final minute, where admissions of “running from it all” move into a final bursting “tell you every time” hook. Delighting in its power-pop accessibility and autumn-tinged reflections, “New England In Fall” is a charmer of a track from CMON CMON, who also caught our ears last year with the standout single “Headwind.”
