Fusing garage-rock passion with psychedelic color, The Crystal Teardrop embrace the sounds of mid-1960s pop on new album Love You More. The five-piece features guitarist Alexandra Rose Mason alongside musicians with backgrounds spanning bands such as Biff Bang Pow and Alfa 9, bringing together a shared appreciation for vintage records and the era’s spirit of musical experimentation. The result is a collection that balances chiming guitar arrangements with organ-led warmth and melodic immediacy.
The album’s title track opens the record with soaring immersion, melding hypnotic guitar twangs and bright organs as a melodic lead presence emerges. “I could tell something must be wrong, for I have known you for so long,” Alexandra Rose Mason’s performance lets out, complemented by backing, reflective harmoniousness into a yearning to “turn back time.” This blissfully psychedelic jangle-pop showing then moves into “Tomorrow Starts Today,” another rousing success with an absorbing mixture of throwback-friendly guitar riffs and plucky psychedelics. The title-touting hook is especially memorable, as is the bridge in the final minute, where frolicking guitars intertwine with whimsical awe.
Another success, “It’s Too Late” beckons to “take a look around now, tell me what you found now” as twangy guitar ardor and brisk percussion envelop. “I won’t make the same mistake again,” the delivery traverses with punchy passion, unleashing a charismatic guitar solo past the one-minute turn. Delighting across rollicking rockers like these and more psych-friendly jangly gems in the vein of the title track, Love You More is a consuming all-out success from The Crystal Teardrop.
