“Tell Me You Care” is an ardent success of a single from London-based alt-rock trio Sutlej. Beginning with somber guitars and vulnerable confessions of tumult, the track accelerates into an anthemic, grunge-infused explosion of fuzzy distortion and passionate vocals. It features production from Alex Mountford (formerly of Dead!), who helps transform the band’s engaging songwriting into a tour-de-force of sound.
The production consumes in its interplay between perseverant themes and escalating instrumentation. Murky guitar tones and introspective vocals lead initially, aspirational in the “tell me no lies… left me always wanting more” perspectives on personal tumult. The “when you’re feeling so down” vocal then escalates into a triumphant “now I’m standing strong” lyrical envelopment, bolstered by a driving percussive pulse and an added guitar layer. “I wanna be here, here for you,” the comforting vocals exude reassurance, maneuvering thereafter into an anthemic allure.
“Look me in the eyes!” the vocals then accelerate with stirring passion, finding an alt-rock and grungy balance amidst blaring guitar distortion, clamoring percussion, and touches of concluding synths. “Tell Me You Care” is a captivating rock standout from Sutlej, full of sincere emotion and a climactic, riveting build-up. The rising band is already acclaimed for their powerful live performances, and “Tell Me You Care” affirms their talents within the studio as well.
