“NY Girls” is the latest track from Pavy, the moniker of Chicago-born artist Jonathan McCoy, who completely fell in love with the New York scene. And honestly, what a time to drop a love letter to NYC. Between the Knicks recently clinching their historic NBA Championship, World Cup matches, and Taylor Swift turning Madison Square Garden into the ultimate star-studded wedding venue to marry Travis Kelce, the city’s energy is completely unmatched right now.
The track itself is a smooth hip-hop song dripping with classic NY rap flavors, dedicated entirely to New York ladies. In his lyrics, Pavy gets personal about his journey, explaining that he first arrived in NYC at just 14 years old to chase his hip-hop dreams, crashing in an apartment in Harlem.
Even though he talks about his extensive travels, he admits a wild detail; he’s still never actually seen Central Park! But his grind paid off; he reflects on his come-up, proudly mentioning his membership to the exclusive Soho House in NY.
Ultimately, the heart of the song is about wanting to slow down his hectic traveling for music just to settle down and be with the girl of his dreams.
It’s smooth, nostalgic, and a must-listen. Be sure to stick around for the fire rap verse from Swim Team! Check out “NY Girls” now!
