Kevin Morby and Waxahatchee have welcomed their newborn baby.
Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield confirmed her pregnancy back in April during a co-headline tour with MJ Lenderman.
While on stage at Atlanta Symphony Hall, the singer told fans that she was expecting when introducing her final song of the night. She said that the song was about her “having a baby”, and likely to “hit a little different for me now”.
She and partner Kevin Morby welcomed their first baby on Tuesday (July 21), and Morby celebrated the moment by sharing a photo of his partner on his Instagram Stories.
He then took to Substack to reveal that the baby came two weeks earlier than expected, and his partner luckily went into labour when he was back from his own run of European tour dates.

“I returned from my European tour just in time for our little beautiful baby to kick the door in two weeks ahead of schedule,” he wrote. “Like clockwork, I was home all but eight hours before Katie’s water broke. I like to think that the little guy waited for me.”
“His due date was August first but luckily we get some extra time with him. Who we thought would be a Leo is now a Cancer. He is perfect,” he added. “Katie’s such a badass. But y’all already knew that.”
He also wrote on his Substack page that the three of them have had Grouper’s ‘Heavy Water/I’d Rather Be Sleeping’ on repeat, and confirmed that he would be pulling out of Justin Vernon and Aaron Dessner’s Eaux Claires Festival to be with his family.
“I do have to drop out of my scheduled performance at the Eaux Claires festival this weekend in Wisconsin,” he wrote. “I was looking forward to jamming with Justin and Aaron which was going to feel very full circle but I know we will have lots of jamming in our futures. Sending everyone there my love this weekend.”
Eaux Claires confirmed that Morby was no longer on the line-up, and shared an updated image of the schedule with his name crossed out. In his place, according to the post, will be someone called “Bon”. More details are expected to be announced soon.
Waxahatchee’s tour with MJ Lenderman came on the heels of them. dropping their latest album, ‘Tigers Blood’, in 2024, and Katie Crutchfield dropping the standalone track ‘Mud’, which was an outtake from the album’s recording sessions.
