Taiwanese project 理化兄弟 P.C.B. fuses thick basslines, laid-back keys, and soaring vocal lines across new full-length The Soulway. Moving from funk-infused grooves into spacey chillwave textures and psych-pop shifts, the record delivers an inventive, rhythmic journey.

“Keep Moon Dont Stop” opens the release in captivating form, fusing a funky bass drive with wordless backing harmonies. Lounge-friendly keys add a warm complement, while a soulful, confident delivery emerges shortly thereafter. The bass struts a heavy presence throughout, inducing a head-nodding effect as the melodic phrases weave in and out with charismatic allure. “Keep on moving, don’t stop,” they beckon during an especially climactic sequence, culminating in a punchy rhythm section and multi-layered harmonic maneuvering. Ensuing track “Wa Wu Wa” delights as well in its starry-eyed atmospheric realm, retaining the heavy bass funkiness within a chillwave-minded aesthetic of glimmering atmospherics.

Another highlight, “Don’t Do ET” recalls recent Tame Impala in its contrast between a restrained lead lushness and psych-pop grooves. The drop around 01:30 is delectable, specifically in its mixture of heavy rhythmic throbbing and heightened singing. Album finale “The Wonkyer” is a gem as well, feeling quite cinematic in its wordless choral swells and spacious initial procession. Striking shifts between warbly, heavy rhythmic stomps and spacey, dreamy atmospherics invigorate throughout. The Soulway is a fantastic, grooving listening experience from 理化兄弟 P.C.B.
