Coward Kill Coward plumb the darker recesses of the human condition on their new album, I Am Not a Fighter, I Will Fail. Taking inspiration from the noisy doom and sludge of Primitive Man, Indian and Swans mixed with occasional mechanical cruelty a la Godflesh and The Body, the Jersey noisemakers do their best to instill misery in the listener.
On new single “Clean,” Coward Kill Coward bring as much noise as possible, evolving the song from an angry sludge ripper into an overwhelming, unsettling vortex of heaviness and misery.
“The album is basically about hitting an emotional rock bottom despite trying your best,” Coward Kill Coward tell Decibel and “Clean” certainly matches that energy. By the time the track concludes, the listener is left with feelings of anxiety and hopelessness—exactly what the song is about.
You can hear “Clean” below. I Am Not a Fighter is out on August 28 via Horror Pain Gore Death.
