Hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Main Street Detour are a four-piece band whose small-town roots play a pivotal role in their approach to music, as they constantly strive to unite and uplift their local music scene. Stylistically, Main Street Detour are characterised by their emotionally charged lyricism and dynamic soundscapes, which depict some of life’s most significant challenges, covering the good, the bad, and the ugly sides of growing up.
When it comes to performing live, Main Street Detour are far from being newcomers. In fact, the band have already gained valuable experience opening for emerging acts such as Chase Petra, Action/Adventure and Carly Cosgrove, as well as established bands like The Dangerous Summer and Belmont.
Paving the way for their next EP, Main Street Detour are sharing their single, Sleep When I’m Dead, a track that once again showcases their honest songwriting. Addressing a situation most people have experienced at some point in their lives, the song explores the frustration of feeling stuck in the same place for years, surrounded by the same people, the same stories, and the same predictable suburban environment. Despite the harshness and monotony of everyday life, Main Street Detour attempt to find a positive side to this familiar situation, capturing the desire to break free and find something more meaningful.
Musically, anyone with a knack for skate punk or emo will find plenty to enjoy in this track. From its D-beat drumming style to the fast-paced, frantic guitar strumming, not to mention the melodic vocal work, Sleep When I’m Dead delivers all the energy and sentiment you could want from a melancholic punk rock song.
Sleep When I’m Dead will feature on Twist, Main Street Detour’s forthcoming EP, set for release on October 30. If you’re looking for your next dose of skate punk and emo, this is a release you won’t want to miss!
