Cyprus-based multi-instrumentalist Aleph combines modern metal/rock intensity, electronic textures, and emotive piano on The Luminous Abyss, an upcoming three-track EP under the Watch Me Die Inside moniker. Lead single “Elevate” introduces the release’s exploration of fractured identity, inner turmoil, and personal resistance through forceful vocal performances and seamlessly contrasting sonic elements.
A stirring piano presence opens the album, tonally calm and emotively somber in its progression and caressing, slight strings enter with artful subtlety. A subdued, mixed-down vocal presence emerges thereafter, initially dreamy and understated before gearing up into a rock-minded ardor. “The world burns,” those memorable vocals let out as fuzzy guitar distortion and rhythmic pit-pattering escalate. The “break the cage” vocal sequence invigorates thereafter, fondly reminiscent of The Mars Volta in its commanding, ardently ferocious delivery.
“Sharpen your convictions,” the vocals beckon in the ensuing sequence, pairing with the drive to “break the cage” for an introspective sense of self-analysis — striving to maintain identity and functionality in the midst of personal strife. The track’s final minute is particularly striking in the shift to a raucously intense vocal fervently, assuming a screaming, unbridled passion before a melodically anthemic send-off. “Elevate” is a powerfully dynamic rock success from Watch Me Die Inside.
